The word on good vibrations

Vanessa acknowledges the power of words and marvels at the beauty within a single drop of water changed through the healing words and vibrations of prayer

Ancient peoples knew the power of words. They knew that words had a vibration; words could harm and could heal. They also understood that some words had deeper meanings attached to them such as the magical words used only in ritual and ceremony. For a person to know the true meaning of a word and also its origins was to hold within their grasp real magical power.

'If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration'  Nikola Tesla

Dr Masaru Emoto, a well-known Japanese scientist, has conducted hundreds of experiments using words and water, photographing the results and realising the vibrational effects.

Dr Emoto said:
Existence is vibration. When we separate something into its smallest parts, we always enter a strange world where all that exists is particles and waves. The fact that everything is in a state of vibration also means that everything is creating sound and as sound is created, there is a master listener to receive the sound: water.

Why could a crystal formation be affected by music? How could completely different results be reached depending on the spoken and written words water is exposed to? The answer is because water, so sensitive to the unique frequencies emitted by the world, essentially and efficiently mirrors the outside world. Music and spoken words are vibration; they are easily understood and interpreted by just about anyone. Sounds, like the chant created by a human voice at a Buddhist funeral, can create a healing frequency.

I have read a few of Dr Emoto's books and found them to be incredibly informative and fascinating. I always ponder the potential of this knowledge in terms of healing; our bodies are made up of about 70% of water so by using our intention with the understanding that words affect water, we can certainly influence our own healing (and others) by using kind and loving words directed at our bodies…love, peace, joy, contentment, healing etc.

Our names also carry vibration. While in the UK I was once asked what my name was. ‘Vanessa’ I answered, to which came the reply ‘Vanilla? …how exotic’. Ha! It must have been my strong kiwi accent. ‘Veeneesa’ somehow ended up sounding like vanilla.  As a teenager I always wished for something more exotic, as ya do - alas Vanilla was not one of them.

Anecdotal reports throughout history have categorised vanilla as a sexual stimulant. As far back as the time of the Aztecs, vanilla has been thought to possess powerful aphrodisiac properties. Ummmm probably a good idea that Vanessa was my chosen name; goodness knows what kinda girl Vanilla might have been!

2014 does find me changing back to my original surname though and I’m feeling a strong re-connection with my Irish roots and ancestry - good vibrations in the process, not to mention a whole new chapter in my life journey.  As Bob Dylan said ‘change is gonna come. Oh yes it is’.

So being mindful of my words will help create positive vibrations, like a prayer on the wind; affecting the all, the world and all those in it – a tough challenge after a long tiring day, but well worth the healing that I shall receive in return.

Love, peace and joy to all,
