In need of soothing? Well, look no further – soothe the day with this hot chocolate like no other. This simple recipe uses good old cocoa powder (do choose Fairtrade). A cup of this feels like pudding, so go on be naughty at morning tea time.

For one cup

  • 2 teaspoons cocoa (depending on your cocoa and your tastebuds)
  • 1 teaspoons ground almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of raw sugar
  • Wee pinch of chilli (optional)
  • 1 cup of hot milk

Mix the cocoa, almonds, cinnamon, sugar and chilli (if using), together in a cup. Add a little hot milk and stir into a paste. Pour on the rest of the milk, stirring as you go. Taste for sweetness. Add enough sugar to make it perfect for you today (counting will ruin everything).

Then go sit somewhere peaceful, close your eyes and sip away.

Soothed.
