Reading is part of who Diana Kenny is, some of her earliest memories are of trips to the library and of being fascinated with a certain banned book! Diana has also been a member of a book club for over 20yrs so taking on the mantle of MyMag book reviewer has been an easy step for this bookworm

I have always loved reading, one of my earliest memories is catching the bus with my mother to the Lower Hutt Library on a Friday night.  I was allowed five books for the week and they were always read and piled next to my bed well before the following Friday night deadline came along.

I would voraciously read anything I could get my hands on, reading while peeling potatoes and in the bath.

As I grew older I would also read my mother’s books.  I have a clear memory of finding, in some strange place, the then banned book by Henry Miller 'The Tropic of Capricorn'.

The book was banned in the USA until 1961 for its “obscene content” not that I had any knowledge of that, being a Capricorn I was just fascinated by it’s title.  I never did finish reading it as it would always mysteriously disappear from my room.
My taste now is more towards factual accounts and biography; however I would draw the line at reading the biography of a 30 year old and I must confess to reading 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' every couple of years because I love it.
For more than 20 years I have been part of a fantastic book club.  Joining a book club is a great way to be introduced to huge range of books you may not otherwise read.  Our group is an eclectic group of women from all backgrounds and our meetings always include a hearty discussion about our latest book.
Reading is a huge part of my life, I always have a pile of books ready and waiting alongside another pile 'dog eared' and well loved.  Join me each month as I discuss and review my latest literary adventure.
